New system for offer preparation has been started.
|
The offer preparation in different spreadsheet and word processing programs is a thing of the past in the DESMA sales department. A fully integrated database system supersedes now the old data stock - and guarantees a swift and efficient offer preparation.
End of 2008 green light was given for the project "offer preparation by means of variants configuration". Being based on the SAP system which has been in use for about 10 years, the internal system to prepare offers was supposed to be completely reorganized. In the interim the reorganization has been accomplished and the price lists out of MS-Office data stocks were replaced by a database system that has been matched with the DESMA specific process flows and adapted to customer requirements.
DESMA-specific transactions were set up in the variant configuration in the SAP system to make this real. Upon selecting the requested DESMA machine type and by means of the contextual technology knowledge of the system, the available injection units for the machine type and the other main subassemblies are automatically collected.
Accessories and individual customer demands
After determination of a few basic data only, the available accessories for the selected machine type are called up. Depending on the customer demand, these can be selected individually. It is of course also possible to take special customer demands into consideration. Thus, the order preparation can be catered to very specific applications.
Apart from the accelerated offer preparation, the new system provides another big advantage: the relevant technical data for all available accessories can be lodged by means of classifications and, if required, can complete the present offer.
A further benefit of the SAP-based offer system is that the offer, if the order was placed, can smoothly - since being automated - be transformed into a production order.
If required, the new DESMA offer system can be extended with additional languages. Currently the system is available in four languages, German, English, French and Spanish.
