Top or flop?

Unlike Gutech in Brescia and Medtech in Stuttgart which still attracted a
relatively large number of visitors because of their regional specialties and differences in the development
of different sectors, the current global economic situation had a serious impact on Plast ´09
in Milan.
"We predicted this development and therefore cancelled our participation as part of our Bold &
Modest initiative," says Sales Manager Harald Schmid commenting on the current situation. "Our sales
and marketing people were there however, and assessed the situation." The conclusions were that the number of
visitors in the rubber exhibition area had dropped noticeably since the last Plast.
"Our customers were not very strongly represented. The decline in visitors naturally reflects the current
order situation in many parts of the sector." The priority now is not so much investing in
new capacities but economically using the existing capacities. The virtual trade fair stand
and the Bold & Modest initiative launched by DESMA provide a portal for the efficient use of production
methods and new concepts.
