Successful contact grooming in California
|
Showcasing, presenting one's strong points, socializing - with these intentions DESMA USA started the Medical Design & Manufacturing in Anaheim, California end of January. The four-day MDM show has a floor space of around 12,000 square meters and gathers experts from the industries: medical engineering, assembly, packaging and measurement technique. For four years DESMA has been among the around 1,000 exhibitors and this almost exclusively: Since the MDM was not a specific show to the rubber industry, the competitors of the specialist for elastomer technology were few and far between. Hence, Scott Early, CEO of DESMA USA, clocked up dozens of interesting discussions as well as promising contacts to customers from the medical sector who traditionally are strongly represented in California. Besides regular clients, such as FGNP and Morgan, prospects like the companies A&D Rubber or UNICOR met at the DESMA booth. With its current range of vertical and horizontal machines to produce large-volume medical articles, e. g. pharmaceutical stoppers or medical injection pistons, DESMA provides solutions for the medical industry.
For the innovations of the numerous pharmaceutics manufacturers in the sector of pacemakers, implants and other small-sized medical products, DESMA has so far not been offering the suitable machine with an adequately little injection volume. However, as DESMA is producing, apart from the headquarters in Fridingen, in India and China as well, this is no longer a shortcoming: "The Alpha 50-ton machine produced at DESMA India and completed by some details is able to fill the gap in this market" says Scott Early confidently.
In addition to the new "medical" leads obtained, the MDM served to groom contacts in general, because the whole West Coast usually meets there and therefore also DESMA customers (and those yet to become ones) from other industries.
