Turnkey production cell for pipe seals for the building industry.
|
DESMA is a leading supplier of turnkey systems for elastomer articles, to improve its
services it has developed a highly efficient and versatile production plant for the
manufacture of pipe seals for the building industry. The client is a
well-known company based in Turkey.
The plant itself is based on a machine of type D 968.560 ZO BENCHMARK 750. This basic plant has been
upgraded with units for the shifting and rotation of double core sets. In order to allow
for the production of seals using a variety of elastomers, rail-type tools are used. A
decisive factor in this plant's productivity is the option to rotate the rails. While the vulcanisation of
one batch of seals finishes in the mould frame the o-rings produced during the previous cycle can be
demoulded and separated outside of the closing unit. In order to minimise wastage - and
hence cut costs - the tools are fitted with a cold runner system.
 
The demoulding of the articles itself is handled by a versatile automation system, driven by servos
and configured for handling articles of all sizes. Depending upon article size (DN 50 through DN 150) the
output of the plant is as follows: Fitted with up to 320 cavities for the smallest size seal,
an annual production of up to approx. 30 million pipe seals is possible.
