The DESMA training workshop: a key strategic investment in personnel development
|
No cost was spared for our new training facility, which went into operation this past September and whose centerpiece is a milling machine featuring latest-generation control technology. The facility also integrates a simulation workstation so that more than just one trainee can explore the wonders of the machine's milling programs. The training workshop also contains two additional milling machines, as well as surface grinders, lathes, and upright drilling machines, all of which are also used for "real" production. In addition to learning their trade in the training facility, our trainees also get hands-on experience working on rush orders and carrying out tricky tasks. "Our trainees aren't put in the position of learning the ropes while they're on the job, since they're already experienced practitioners by the time they begin working on the production line," explains planning and parts production head Jürgen Winter. The new training facility - which was of course established in the knowledge that qualified skilled workers are hard to come by - is above all a boon for the facility's current crop of 11 tool and die maker and 12 electrician trainees. We also offer in-house training programs in the fields of warehouse logistics, purchasing, IT and product design. We're proud of the fact that at any one time, 11 percent of our workforce is involved in a full time training program, and that all trainees who successfully complete their program with us are offered a full time position.
